About this event

This virtual workshop will highlight the benefits and unique needs of using Jetstream2 in the context of a class. If you're a instructor or teaching assistant new to Jetstream2, or if you're just interested in learning about our resources for your students, this session is for you.

Attendees will learn about the instruction-specific practical application of Jetstream2 from past and current use cases. The presenters will provide an overview of the National Science Foundation's Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services & Support (ACCESS) program, as well as steps to get started with Jetstream2, such as requesting an allocation, logging in, and understanding the different user interfaces.

Additional discussion topics will include estimating needs based on class size, adding users (students, assistants) at the appropriate access level, guiding students in creating their virtual machines, security considerations, and best practices for instance management.

This workshop is hosted by the Jetstream2 Support team, part of Research Cloud Services at Indiana University.

Prerequisites

  • An ACCESS user ID. As part of the NSF's ACCESS ecosystem, all use of Jetstream2 begins here. An ACCESS ID is necessary to participate in the hands-on activities.
