The Jetstream2 team has carefully analyzed the use of our GPU resources and determined the community would benefit from increased availability of g3.medium and g3.large flavors.
On August 5, 2025, Jetstream2 staff will be retiring the g3.small flavor during the August GPU Maintenance window from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. We will also perform routine infrastructure maintenance on systems that host all partial-GPU flavors (g3.small, g3.medium, and g3.large).
During this maintenance, all g3.small, g3.medium, and g3.large instances will be administratively rebooted. Any remaining g3.small instances will be administratively resized to the g3.medium flavor.
We strongly advise preserving your work prior to August 4 by safely shutting down any active processes or jobs on these instances and backing up essential data outside of Jetstream2.
Note: Full-card GPU (g3.xl) flavors, compute, and large memory instances will not be affected.
The g3.small retirement timeline is as follows:
- August 3: The g3.small flavor will no longer be an option for new instances.
- August 4: Existing g3.small instances must be resized by end of day. Any g3.small instance not resized by August 4 will be administratively resized to a g3.medium flavor.
- August 5: The g3.small flavor will no longer be available at the end of maintenance.
